High School Panel at March Community Engagement Night

Allen ISD recently hosted a Community Engagement Night at the Allen ISD STEAM Center, with a fantastic turnout from families, students, local businesses, board members, staff, and community members. 

The conference-style gathering provided a unique platform for attendees to engage directly with district leaders and experts across many pivotal topics. With the option to attend multiple sessions, participants gained valuable insights tailored to their interests and concerns. 

Highlights of the Evening: 

  • The Middle School Panel offered a candid look into the life of middle schoolers, with current students discussing strategies for academic success. 

  • The High School Panel transitioned the focus to preparing for high school, offering attendees strategies from current students for a smooth adjustment to Lowery Freshman Center and Allen High School. 

  • In the Pre-K Session, Stephanie Logan and Lara Utecht provided an in-depth look into the enriching early childhood programs available at Anderson Early Childhood School. 

  • An informative session on School Board Roles and Responsibilities was led by Trustees Dr. Polly Montgomery and Dr. Bill Parker, discussing their pivotal role in the district's success. 

  • School Finance 101 demystified the complexities of school funding, with Chief Financial Officer Brian Carter explaining the impact of local and state financing on education and local taxes. 

  • Dr. Ryan Smith led a critical discussion in Parent University on the impacts of social media on mental health, offering strategies for parents to navigate the challenges and opportunities it presents. 

  • The event also included a STEAM Center Tour, where attendees explored the innovative facilities and programs offered by Allen ISD. 

Allen ISD thanks to all participants, speakers, and organizers for making Community Engagement Night a success. The district remains committed to fostering strong connections within the community and looks forward to future events that continue to enrich and engage.
