Allen ISD - Where Eagles Soar

School namesake Mary Evans and her family recently dedicated a special reading and study area in the Evans Elementary library in memory of her husband Jack Evans. Corky’s Cabin was added to the library with donations to the Jack Evans Memorial Fund and supported by the family and friends of Mr. Evans. Corky was Mr. Evans’ nickname and the cabin joins other Evans Elementary features named for Mr. Evans including Corky’s Cafeteria, and the school’s pony mascot. Evans 1st graders attended the dedication of Corky's Cabin. Thank you to the Evans family and supporters for providing this learning area for Evans students.

The Foundation for Allen Schools held its annual scholarship awards dinner on Tuesday, April 16, and presented 187 students with scholarships totaling more than $200,000. For more than 26 years, the Foundation For Allen Schools has awarded scholarships to students through the generosity of local donors. To date, the Foundation has awarded a total of 1,748 scholarships worth $1,696,650 to graduating Allen High School seniors! This year, scholarships totaled $208,450 thanks to generous donations from community members, organizations, corporate partners, families, and schools.

Ereckson Middle School seventh graders, Nikhitha Swaminathan and Sri Dhanvi Puli, were recently honored for winning in the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Regional Fair Competition. The project, "QuantMole: Efficient Determination of Molecular Ground State with VQE," employs the cutting-edge Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) method to accurately determine the ground state energy of molecules. This research has profound implications for drug discovery, emphasizing the stability and behavior of molecules in developing new medications. The team's work highlights the importance of quantum computing in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of molecular structure optimization, thereby facilitating the creation of safer and more effective drugs. Ereckson Middle School and Allen ISD are proud of Nikhitha and Sri Dhanvi's outstanding achievement and their contribution to the scientific community.

The Allen High School girls' bowling team recently won the team state championship, marking the first bowling team state championship since 2009. Led by standout performances from Clara Campbell and freshman Madison Choi, the team dominated the competition.

The 16th Allen Eagle Run completed another successful year with 3,242 registered runners from 17 states participating. The weather was perfect at the March 2 event with 1,645 participants in the 5K run. Another 883 completed the 1K Fun Run and Walk as 133 took part virtually and 585 enjoyed the sleep-in option with an entry fee donation. “We also had 46 race sponsors, including title sponsor HEB, and more than 300 volunteers helping to make this another great year for the Eagle Run,” said Stacy Polk, the event organizer for the Foundation For Allen Schools. Proceeds from the Eagle Run benefit the Foundation For Allen Schools and the Allen ISD Council of PTAs.

Students from Allen High School recently competed at the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) State Competition in Round Rock. Junior Avery Adams qualified for nationals in the Educators Rising Moment Competition, marking her third consecutive qualification but her first in this specific category. Junior Callie Reavis won the Gold Award in the Portfolio Contest, the highest recognition for that competition. Congratulations to these Allen High School students as they prepare for future careers in education.

The Allen High School swim program had several student-athletes qualify to compete at the UIL Swimming and Diving State Meet held Feb. 23-24 at UT-Austin. The Allen girls swim team earned 7th place overall at the meet, and Katelynn Zhou earned a silver medal in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Congratulations to the swim program!
